Dong Dong Dong

Well the banks are at it again. Extending their margins. Last year you could get a Cashcard and load
Australian dollars as Vietnamese Dong onto it and hey presto a debit card that was easy and cheap to use all over VN.
No not this year, Fiscal Facism now dictates that only the biggest currencies can now be used on cashcards. Which translates into having to pay not just a tranaction fee at the ATM in VN but a currency conversion fee everytime you withdraw cash or use the EFTPOS facility.
Monday will have to be a look and see day for a money solution.

Two Weeks and HD Video

Well we have two weeks to go till we fly out. Carol got some beautiful Ortlieb front low rider panniers on Saturday. Bags that go on the front forks of the bike for extra storage one each side. They are excellent quality , waterproof and bright canary yellow. We picked up carol's bike today after it got serviced in Ipswich over the weekend.
We also have a beaut collection of Australian souvenirs to give as gifts when the occasion is right. Postcards, teatowels and hankerchiefs.
I have been looking at the new mini HD and VGA cameras to capture the action and really like the $$$ ones. Sony and Capture make some great ones but I am thinking about getting a Kaiser Baas Sports HD camera for the trip.
With just two weeks to go I gotta decide soon. I will ring Office Works and Ted's first thing on Monday. We picked up the road and street directory of Vietnam today from Margaret and Damians at Warner. Brendan (Son) recently brought it back from Vietnam for Carol and I to use on our tour.
Can't wait now ,,,I still need to complete some preparation on my bike and we really need to do a full pack and weigh this week so that we can be sure we can fit it all in.
