Now the waiting begins

Well the tyres arrived about two days after the auction and now I await the US postal service and the Chinese Postal Service which can be highly influenced by the weather, natural disasters, political unrest and peoples economic affliction.
So I will have to just sit back now and not worry.

e bay oh e bay to the rescue

Well I found the water sterilisation device online in USA. It is also much cheaper there as well since they are really converting our $.  I have tried to purchase a Steripen Traveler, it contains a UV light that destroys all the little invisible bugs in the water that might otherwise ruin the holiday.
I have also got a string of battery operated led twinkle lights to wear around at night while riding. So I might resemble one of santa's helpers. I have also got two small top tube bags to store snacks in while riding. Then there is the tyres for Big Red that are 60% off retail ,,,what could I do ,,,so I set my bid and sat back and forgot all about till we got home and discovered that someone snipered the auction at 3 sec to go 3 seconds. So now I have been given a second chance offer ????

Handle Bars

Carol and her new space bar designed to allow for more gadgetry, bells and whistles for the long distance cycle touer.

I have a beautiful set of butterfly bars that are designed to allow for multiple hand positions while in the saddle for long days.

If you can see the Etrex screen it has Lawrence and Carol and the bicycle icon at our location in Miles. The bars need tape and I am thinking about cutting down some handgrips to fit.

ebay bargins ???

Well I have gone looking for some new tyres as my tried and tested ones are a couple of years old and will be alright to build fitness on but I won't be taking them to VN. So I found two on ebay and lost the auction ,,,I got sniped with 3 seconds to go.

First Training run

Sunday 10:30. Well I finally got my gear selectors fitted and changed to my touring tyres. So off I went for a 7 km trial, not really very much but it is a start. I have now tried out the my GPS which fits nicely on my handle bars. I just have to decide if it is better on the right or left. They are designed to be held in the palm of your hand rather then being mounting . I am keen to find out if I can upload my routes while on tour so might have to seek some help. The Etrex 30 is great as it does turn by turn direction on the screen. So I have hoping that it will be just  as easy in Vietnam to get around.

Bike Boxes

The time has come for us to try to find some bike boxes. Qantas sells a box for about $17. We are off to Brisbane next weekend so we might have to get them then. Chinchilla and Dalby both have shops that sell bikes so I will let my fingers do the walking and see what we find.
A box hunting we go. I have since spoken to my old mate in Ippy Bicycles Rick and he has two for us to collect next weekend.
